Salt eBook Danielle Ellison
Witches hunting demons. A girl with everything to prove and a secret she is desperate to keep hidden. A mysterious boy with secrets of his own who does strange and wonderful things to the heroine's heart rate (when she doesn't want to strangle him, lol). A quest that leads to more questions than answers, and may or may not reveal truths that will rock the very foundation of the world the girl and boy live in.Any of that sound good to you? If you answered yes, then Salt's got your name on it.
Whether you're into action, humor, magic, mystery, or you're all about the romance, you'll find some or all of what you're looking for within this book's pages. It's got a bit of everything for everyone. For me, the biggest draw was Pen's relentless search for the demon that stole her magic - a search that took her down roads she never expected to travel. Following along as Pen played detective, unearthing clues and trying to piece it all together, was boat loads of fun. I also enjoyed the world-building. It wasn't too much, and wasn't too little - it was just right. And of course the romance. I'm a sucker for the romance every time, and Pen and Carter gave me an interesting one. It wasn't quite instalove, but it wasn't an agonizingly slow burn either. It fell neatly in the middle, and that worked for me.
Hands down, though, the best part of the book for me was the final 15-20%. Author Danielle Ellison explained certain key mysteries in a way I didn't expect, and better still, she did it in a way that didn't seem too far-fetched or "out there". It was like a million light bulbs turning on, all at once, and suddenly, all the things I'd been scratching my head over, or hadn't been able to quite put my finger on, made perfect sense. It was rather brilliant, actually.
What Salt did best, in my opinion, was prepare the stage for the series. The sets have been built, the actors are in place, and now, it's just a matter of seeing how it all plays out. There are plenty of story avenues left to pursue, and just enough plot threads left dangling to leave fans hungry for more.

Salt eBook Danielle Ellison Reviews
I think Salt is a YA book that probably is actually best for tweens and teens. Not as strong as adult crossover. I did enjoy reading it but wasn't page turning obsessed with other YA I have read. I bought because I do like supporting new authors.
This book was so exciting and I was really rooting for the main two characters!
I absolutely adored this book. It had all the right ingredients - it was fun, magic-y, spunky, and just plain awesome. It doesn't hurt to have a strong main female character and a cute mysterious boy. If you're like me and you love TV shows like Supernatural and Buffy, you're going to love SALT by Danielle Ellison.
I couldn't read this fast enough and I cannot wait for the next book! Read this book, you won't be sorry!
I enjoyed the characters and how their personalities were tied with their alter-selves. It took awhile to get to the main character's power, but once there, it was a slam dunk to the ending.
If that is even a word lol
As soon as I read the blurb for Salt a few months ago, I wanted to read it immediately and was sad to have to wait. But now that I have read it, I can happily say that it was definitely worth that wait! I could not put it down and anytime something mundane made me pause in my reading, I growled in frustration! It was full of fast paced action, heart thumping moments, and swoon worthy hot guy moments from the very beginning. Both Penelope and Carter were easy to relate to and in no time I was in love with them both! I can not wait to find out what happens next!
Fast paced book. Great characters. Lots of magic, demons, love interest, terror. Worth the read. Wanted more about grandmother's life. I want to see where this story goes so I'll have to get book 2.
The plot was intriguing. I liked the main character immediately, and all the other characters that were brought in. The story was exciting & hard to put down. It’s well written. I know it’s for older youth, but i’m older and think any fan of supernatural fiction would enjoy this.
